MAKE ALONE TIME
This is one thing that I have found gives me the ability to both recharge, as well as to organize myself. Maybe I read, or maybe I am making a list or brainstorming. Whatever it is, it is best done with TV off, radio off, cell phone and digital devices, computers, etc. OFF! Let your mind do what it was designed to do: THINK!
DO THINGS THAT GIVE YOU INNER PEACE
You know, this is very much per the individual’s subjective preferences, but for me, I find that nothing gives me greater inner peace than nature itself. To behold a sunrise over the ocean, a sunset over the mountains, watching deer or wildlife do what God made them to do. It’s serene, it’s peaceful, and it’s beautiful. That brings me inner peace.
DO THINGS THAT EXPAND YOUR COMFORT ZONE
Say YES something within 5-secs of hearing about it! People overanalyze things and talk themselves out them. How many times have you done that and found out later that you should have done it, should have gone, should have experienced it? I do it the most at church…but you do know that the Spirit moves you outSIDE of church as well don’t you?! Be bold and adventurous! By doing so, you will be showing respect for yourself by proving to yourself that you are worth it and deserve to experience wonderful, new things that you might have missed otherwise!
DO THINGS THAT MAKE YOUR MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT BETTER
Meditation is a pretty awesome thing! It’s great for regulating your breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure. Exercise is also great because it helps your body create environment that encourages better breathing, heart rate, blood oxygen usage, and blood pressure. Exercising at home, by yourself, allows you to do this with less stress! No worrying about who’s on what machine and how long are they gonna take, or how you look compared to everyone else… Respect yourself by avoiding the public spectacle!
ASSOCIATE WITH PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOU BETTER
Renowned motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, once wrote: “You are the product of the five people you spend the most time with.” As people, we influence others and are influenced, no matter how slightly, by others. Over time, our attitudes, beliefs, and even our results are impacted by those we spend time with, so choose carefully! Personally, I think that you can count God in that. The more time you spend consulting the Bible and in prayer, you will be allowing God to influence you–make Him one of your five!
DO NOT EAT THAT WHICH DOES NOT MAKE YOUR BODY BETTER
Make wise choices! I spent many years abusing my body by eating poorly. I spent many years abusing my body by following stupid “fad” diets. DON’T DO IT! Instead, learn how to make great choices and learn to balance your diet. Use the best quality food you can afford. If you can grow your own, DO IT! Whatever you grow is healthier than anything you can buy. If you use dietary supplements, choose those that pack an enormous amount of nutrition in the smallest quantity of that supplement.
EXERCISE UNTIL YOU KNOW YOU DID YOUR BEST
As a licensed physical therapist, I can tell you that muscles were designed to work and produce movement. They become stronger through muscle fatigue, rebuilding, and hypertrophy. Good muscles prevent and control things like arthritis and pain. But they are also effective in burning calories. The more you work to strengthen your muscles, the faster you burn calories, so eat well and workout hard!
Respecting yourself is important for your emotional well-being. Do those things that build you up and avoid those things that don’t serve you. You can ALWAYS change and improve the things you are doing in your life and make YOU better! Have a great week!
